We are offering a $1,000 sign-on bonus with this role.

Salary: $75,000 or more depending on experience.

Job Responsibilities:

This position's working hours are from 630AM to 330PM or later depending on the daily need. Candidates must be flexible in covering all 3 shifts as needed.

  • Oversee safe operation of the shipping department by initiating warehouse safety procedures, recommending personal protective equipment, inspecting equipment as required, training employees on safe use of equipment, and maintaining records.

  • Participate in corporate safety calls and attend all site safety committee meetings.

  • Lead warehouse activities by implementing operational procedures such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments (including small parcels). Track outbound shipments and keep customer service informed of any delays or other problem issues.

  • Keep warehouse inventory accurate. Establish cycle counting and routine complete scanning of all warehouse locations. Organize periodic physical inventory counts and assist in reconciliation.

  • Ensure movement coordination of product from plant site to leased off-site space to keep plant site space free of pallets on the floor. Review call-out sheet status daily for completion and communicate any shortage.

  • Assign daily duties to warehouse staff, establish priorities, move freight, load and unload trucks, keep warehouse area clean and organized per Safe Quality Foods policy.

  • Coordinate with department heads to ensure warehouse activities support other functions such as production, sales, records control, and purchasing.

  • Oversee work and training of warehouse (including material handling) employees and drivers by evaluating performance, advising and providing information.

  • Develop metrics, reports, and standard work for the department. Trend data to develop continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Conduct regular meetings with warehouse employees to discuss improvements in the department and issues that may arise.

  • Perform supervisory functions, including training, coaching, and mentoring Warehouse / Shipping Department employees, and conduct their performance reviews. Assist in hiring new employees when required.

  • Communicate with customer service team to identify daily customer demand /shipping requirements.

  • Follow up with shipping team to ensure daily requirements are met and all necessary delivery transactions are complete (post goods issued and Bill of Ladings (BOL) submitted to billing).

  • Maintain status and records on DOT Drivers.

  • Coordinate shipments with lowest cost and compare rates. Manage freight claims to recover damage costs.

  • Direct the salvage of damaged or used material by following instructions and inspecting materials.

  • All other projects as assigned.

Experience

Required

  • 5 years: 3-5 years of relevant experience.
