SUMMARY: Responsible for the operations, strategic and business development initiatives for the marine operations group ensuring optimal service to our customers. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: * Ensure compliant operations and efficient, effective utilization of manpower and equipment for marine operations. * Monitor performance of personnel and operations for optimal equipment and facility efficiency. * Oversee timely and cost-effective design, modification, monitoring, and control of operational activities. * Maintain standard policies and procedures for safe and environmentally sound fleet operations. * Ensure vessel crews comply with regulatory training requirements. * Ensure operational compliance with health, safety, environmental, human resources, and labor policy. Initiate action to prevent the re-occurrence of any non-conformance relating to product, process, and quality systems in the Marine Operations area. * Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, and quality systems in the Marine Operations Department. * Ensure all employees are developed, properly trained and effectively managed, including correction of performance issues. * Ensure continuous improvement of the business customer service and quality standards. * Ensure resolution of customer inquiries, requests, or complaints with various internal departments. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in marine transportation, marine engineering, or a related field. A combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted. Graduation from a maritime academy or equivalent preferred. EXPERIENCE: 10 years marine operations management experience with demonstrated experience within the disciplines of the maritime community (i.e.: operations, engineering, petroleum, and cargo transportation). Offshore Tug and Barge experience preferred. TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Proficient with Microsoft office products, including Word, Outlook, Excel and SharePoint. Proficient in complex problem-solving using analysis, technical and organizational expertise to develop creative innovative solutions. COMPENTENCIES: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal/external business partners. Ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop changes or alternatives. Ability to prepare, monitor and administer budgets, as well as the ability to perform financial analysis. Ability to function effectively with, or as part of, a team. Ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope. Ability to identify and/or document existing and new trends, as well as evaluate and predict their impact on the organization. Ability to adapt to changing work demands. Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously. Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment. Ability to gather, interpret, report and/or edit information. Ability to manage employee and client relationships to achieve specific goals for generating and maintaining sales of products and services. Knowledge of federal and state marine safety, health, and environmental regulations. Knowledge of training methodology and the ability to develop and provide technical/operational training to others. OTHER: Valid Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) credential is required. Also, subject to a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check to obtain your driving history. JOB SCOPE: Position impacts multiple business units/segments. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works both inside an office environment and outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders. May require extended use of computer keyboard and viewing of computer monitor and ability to sit for long periods of time.
