Basic Function:

To provide leadership and direction on behalf of, and as delegated by, the Vice President, Global Education, Academic Affairs in the area of global education. Oversee the management of existing global education abroad and the development of new global education opportunitites and partnerships. Reports to the Vice President, Global Education, Academic Affairs.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

Responsible for the management and operation of existing American Academies and for the development of new American Academies.

Represent the Vice President, Global Education at internal and external meetings and events; assume divisional responsibility as requested during Vice President's absence.

Represent the university when traveling abroad to meet with various existing partners and when developing new connections.

Assist the Vice President, Global Education in the development and accomplishment of Global Education strategic initiatives and international activities.

Assist the Vice President, Global Education by chairing, convening, and/or serving on various campus and community committees, task forces, councils, etc.

Assist the Vice President by performing duties and conducting high-level projects including, but not limited to, the creation of the Global College.

Coordinate international recruitment efforts, including representative officers and academic centers.

Oversee the development of marketing and communication activites.

Represent the university to agencies on matters relating to global education; seek grants and resources from external agencies to fulfill the university's mission.

Fulfill responsibilities of human resource management, including equal employment opportunity, affirmative action and faculty/staff development.

Lead projects and initiatives as assigned.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Terminal degree in Business Administration, International Relations, Higher Education, or other relevant field from an accredited institution; six years of professional experience in international education or a related field.  Must possess a broad institutional perspective, be multilingual, and a proactive style of leadership that encourages teamwork and interaction.

License/Certification:

 

Knowledge Of:

Higher education and mission critical institutional processes including student acquisition and retention, service delivery, and stakeholder communications *

University structure, academic development and programs *

Managerial principles including institutional financial practices and demonstrated success in strategic planning and budget management *

Skill In:

Written, verbal and interpersonal communication *

Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable software *

Instructional technologies and distance learning models *

Innovation and collaborationeffectively work with internal and external constituencies and organizations *

Ability To:

Travel abroad

Work nontraditional hours, including evenings and weekends

Relate to international visitors according to their culture

Work independently and as part of a team *

Provide leadership and direction *
