Description

Amazon Publishing is seeking an inventive, commercially minded Editor with a passion for authors, readers, and reading to help bring exceptional books to readers in the UK and globally.

You will be responsible for working across a wide range of projects in conjunction with Amazon Publishing's marketing, publicity, production, design, and author relations teams to deliver quality books and world-class author experiences. This is a multi-faceted job in a start-up environment that requires flexibility, agility, and a sense of humour.

The role will work across our list which covers Crime, Thriller, Mystery, Book Club Fiction and Romance.

Key job responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate and develop submissions and publishing proposals, including monitoring trend and sales data

  • Develop and maintain relationships with literary agents, including proposing deals and managing contracts.

  • Collaborate with authors to develop their work

  • Manage titles through the production process from manuscript to publication, including cover briefing and positioning, (working closely with internal teams).

A day in the life

Key deliverables in first year:

  • Acquisition of 6+ titles in first year by evaluating, and developing submissions and publishing proposals.

  • Development of at least 6+ literary agents

  • Collaborate with authors to develop their work

  • Managment titles through the production process from manuscript to publication, including cover briefing and positioning, (working closely with internal teams)

About the team

Core LPs:

  • Deliver Results. Important to deliver for both the team and the author.

  • Ownership. A necessity that a candidate can take ownership of their authors and titles.

  • Bias For Action. Knowing when to focus on speed to win an author and makes timelines for a project.

  • Insist On The Highest Standards. Important that the quality of the editorial is a focus.

  • Are Right A Lot. Sound editorial instincts are vital and understanding an author's talents.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

London, GBR

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years experience in an editorial role within a publishing or agency environment

• 3+ year of author and agent relationship development experience within a publishing or agency environment

• 3+ years of commercial or trade publishing experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Superb written and verbal communication skills

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to measure results

• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and make things happen in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

• Experience with digital content and formats
