Summary:

The Council for European Studies (www.councilforeuropeanstudies.org) invites applications for Executive Director.The Executive Director will lead and oversee all administrative aspects of the Council for European Studies (CES), a center housed at Temple University's College of Liberal Arts.The incumbent will be the face of the Council, working with the CES Executive Committee to give proper strategic direction and implement a high-quality vision.The Executive Director is responsible to the CES Executive Committee for approvals for the annual budget and major initiatives.

CES is a membership-driven scholarly organization with 1,500 individuals and 40 institutional members whose mission is to promote and disseminate interdisciplinary research on European politics, society, history, and culture. Since its founding in 1970, the Council has pursued this mission through a range of programs, including scholarships, fellowships, and awards; career development initiatives; print and online publications, including EuropeNow (www.europenowjournal.org ); and its flagship annual conference, the International Conference of Europeanists.Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and at least six years of related experience. Must be computer literate in Windows operating environment including Microsoft Office programs and related equipment (database, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, and word-processing software, monitor, keyboard, etc.)

Required Skills & Abilities: The volume and diversity of assignments demand the ability to prioritize work well and focus on completing tasks. Must have the ability to make executive decisions. Strong organizational and leadership skills Excellent writing and editing skills Computer literacy and familiarity with common office applications Applicants should know or be prepared to learn Adobe In-Design and Adobe Photoshop, as well as common web-based content management and relationship management database systems. Also necessary is a capacity for independent work, strong leadership capabilities, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a track record in academic and/or nonprofit management, program implementation, and institutional advancement.

Preferred: Advanced degree in a European Studies field and an understanding of the academic world strongly preferred. Fluency in at least one European language is highly desirable. Experience in publishing and fundraising is strongly preferred.

This position requires a background check.' This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
