Location :

This position requires on-site support. Selected candidate will need to be within commuting distance to our site in Plymouth, MN. Relocation assistance may be available if selected candidate is not local.

Position Summary and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of 10 to 15 electrical engineers responsible for research, design, integration, and validation of electrical subsystems for programs spanning several business units and sectors. Management responsibilities include technology development, talent development, staffing, workload planning, process improvement, capital and expense budgets, software tool planning and management, and accountability for team performance.

  • The Electrical Engineering Manager will utilize their emotional intelligence to lead, coach, motivate and direct a high performing engineering team to accomplish project deliverables and strategic objectives, drive timely decision making, and maintain development and succession plans for team members.

  • Initiate continuous improvement activities to create high quality and efficient processes. Improve planning, execution, and tracking methods to increase engineering process excellence. Increase the understanding and use of strategy deployment, kaizen, problem solving, and lessons learned.

  • Lead recruiting efforts to build and maintain team capabilities. Ensure appropriate program technical staffing, hiring plans, and staff development are coordinated & aligned with Engineering and Program Management.

  • Support technology growth through identification of potential innovations, technology roadmap modifications, and proposal preparation.

  • Present deliverables at program technical reviews, proposal reviews, or other technical meetings.

  • Advise stakeholders and team members on how to meet established schedules or resolve technical issues.

  • Act as resource to the department staff by providing guidance, interpretation, training and key input regarding operating procedures and processes.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or relevant discipline; MS preferred.

  • 9+ years of experience or MS + 7 years of experience in engineering.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading personnel, including high performance and experienced engineers.

  • Experience estimating tasking as well as authoring and approving Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for Proposals.

  • Multi-disciplinary engineering experience desired.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level security clearance, US Citizenship required.

  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) across all levels of the organization. Proven partnership/collaboration skills and ability to partner with cross disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

  • Experience in military product development, transition from Technology Development to EMD, EMD to Limited Rate Production and product life-cycle engineering.

  • Advanced level of understanding in a specialized electrical engineering field or general understanding of several diverse electrical engineering disciplines.

  • Demonstrated history of technical progression leading to engineering leadership position.

  • Experience in program leadership.

  • Experience with the design and developing PWB layouts is preferred.

  • Experience with the design and operation of automated CCA test equipment for DVT and production is a plus.

Salary Range: $145,000 - $217,400

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
