Within Azure Data, the Microsoft Fabric platform team builds and maintains the operating system and provides customers a unified data stack to run an entire data estate. The platform provides a unified experience, unified governance, enables a unified business model and a unified architecture.

Within the Fabric Platform team, the Data and Telemetry Team is responsible for the data the drives the Fabric product itself, offering services and tools for different needs from near real time monitoring and troubleshooting to business intelligence.

We are looking for a Principal Data Analytics Manager for the Data Curation and Analytics Team. The team provides and democratizes insights by developing and managing data curation pipelines and data models that build on deep service and business knowledge, and cutting edge tools.

Responsibilities

As a Principal Data Analytics Manager , you will:

  • Lead a team of Data Engineers and Data Scientists. Define team objectives and outcomes, and deliver success through empowerment and accountability.

  • Manage the contractual relationship between the team and the data stakeholders, ensuring aspects such as shaping of high-quality requirements, work prioritization and delivery timelines, compliance, etc.

  • Ensure the quality of team's deliverables, in terms of platform and data effectiveness, trustworthiness, reliability, etc.

  • Manage engagements with external suppliers, with the goal of maximizing delivery output with quality and compliance.

  • Collaborate with leadership, product managers and stakeholders to identify organizational data and data-platform needs and provide solutions, such as metrics, architectures, and data models. Drive cross-organizational efforts in support of such solutions.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling or data engineering work.

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ year(s) experience in business analytics, data science, software development, or data engineering work

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of people management experience.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

  • 2+ years of people management experience in a data/analytics team with comparable responsibilities.

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in cloud computing and data solutions and services, such as Azure Data Lake, Azure ML, Azure Data Factory and Power BI.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in data modeling and related tools and languages, such as T/SQL, tabular models, DAX, etc.

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in Machine Learning.

Data Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
