Within Azure Data, the big data analytics team provides a range of products that enable data engineers and data scientists to extract intelligence from all data – structured, semi-structured, and unstructured. We build the Data Warehouse, Data Engineering, Data Science and AI pillars of Microsoft Fabric.

The Synapse Analytics UX team is looking for a Product Designer II whose work reflects a passion for helping people get the most from their data. This person is energized by tackling complicated problems and curious about exploring new product interaction paradigms. The ideal candidate shows an affinity for designing cohesive experiences across multiple complex back-end services, a sensible and thorough pursuit of user delight, and a track record for delivering thoughtful and impactful products and services.

Responsibilities

  • ​​Contribute to the continued growth of a structured and highly successful design team.

  • Collaborate with other designers to ensure consistency across experiences.

  • Communicate, document, and represent design direction to team members, senior management and key stakeholders.

  • Ensure the experience vision is driven by a well-defined nucleus of user needs, tasks, marketing and business requirements.

  • Work with design, development and program management teams to ensure interaction and visual designs communicate and function successfully for varying technical and performance specifications.

  • Work with user researchers to coordinate testing efforts, interpret test results, and incorporate results into design efforts.

  • Effectively communicate with developers through implementation phase to realize design vision.​

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 3+ years experience working in product or service design

  • OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).

Other Requirements

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 5+ years experience working in product or service design

  • OR Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 3+ years experience working in product or service design

  • OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).

  • 2+ years experience shipping products, services, or games and/or delivering to customers as a result of an end-to-end design process.​

Product Design IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
