job summary:

An Outside Plant (OSP) Construction Inspector is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Scranton, PA area. This job entails coordinating and overseeing Fiber-to-the-Home construction projects, ensuring adherence to schedules, quality standards, and safety regulations through effective communication with vendors and stakeholders.

salary: $21.11 - 32.65 per hour

work hours: 8am to 4pm

responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage day-to-day vendor activities for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) projects.

  • Ensure adherence to project schedules and communicate timelines to construction vendors.

  • Review project drawings and specifications to become familiar with the project.

  • Communicate with customers, site superintendents, and city officials regarding project progress and any issues.

  • Accompany vendors on pre-construction site surveys to verify cable routing and identify obstacles.

  • Monitor fiber optic plant construction activities to ensure compliance with customer guidelines and manufacturer standard recommended procedures (SRP).

  • Visit project sites to evaluate progress and respond to concerns or questions.

Skills:

  • Extensive proven industry knowledge of aerial, buried and underground fiber optic installation methodologies.

  • Ability to work independently and self-directed, takes initiative in seeking efficiencies of processes.

  • Read and understand FTTX (fiber to the home) CAD and IQGeo designs.

  • Working understanding of fiber optic network architectures.

  • Extensive knowledge with Microsoft Office products: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.

  • Organizational skills: ability to handle several projects concurrently, a high level of attention to detail is required.

  • strong team player with the ability to adapt to diverse team members.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Approximately 3 years of underground and aerial.

  • Approximately 3 years of Fiber and Outside Plant knowledge.

  • Utilities knowledge.
