What you’ll do:

The Proposal Engineer/Product Specialist plays a crucial role in creating well-written customer proposals. They work closely with the Power Distribution Division, which includes MV Switchgear (up to 33 KV, both AIS and GIS), LV switchgear, Transformers, and Busducts. Their primary responsibility is to respond to customer requests for quotes (RFQs) and specifications by preparing professional quotations. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities:

1. Review Customer Requirements:

  • Analyze customer technical requirements and RFQs.

  • Identify products that can be offered using standard pricing.

2. Quotation Preparation:

  • Create timely and accurate quotations based on formal and informal specifications.

  • Utilize single-line diagrams and other relevant documentation.

3. Specification Reviews:

Conduct detailed specification reviews to address the following aspects:

  • Customer requirements

  • Alignment with Eaton’s Power Distribution Division product scope

  • Necessary features and accessories for pricing

  • Areas requiring clarification or exceptions for the customer

  • Lead times

  • Alternatives for competitive offerings

  • Special testing, customer witness, or inspection requirements

  • Special documentation and reporting needs

4. Technical Accuracy:

  • Prepare quotations focused on MV and LV power distribution solutions.

  • Ensure alignment with project specifications and schematic diagrams.

5. Tender Proposals:

Submit completed tender proposals within specified deadlines.

6. Risk Analysis and Mitigation:

Conduct formal risk analysis for appropriate tenders.

Submit risk assessments along with approval requests.

7. Order Verification:

Verify that orders received against a tender match the quotation.

Ensure all necessary information is present before handing over to contracts.

8. Tender Follow-Up and Negotiations:

Engage in follow-up activities related to submitted tenders.

Participate in negotiations as needed.

Qualification

1. Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in MV Switchgear (up to 33 KV, both AIS and GIS), LV switchgear, Transformers, and Busducts.

2. Technical Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with IEC standards.

  • Acknowledge of Electrical Power Distribution Products, including Switchgear, Transformers, Busway, Control & Protection equipment, and Power Quality equipment.

  • Knowledge of typical applications, equipment, and systems related to electric power distribution.

3. Communication Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively convey technical information to colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.

4. Software Proficiency:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

5. Personal Attributes:

  • Positive attitude and initiative in approaching tasks.

  • Ability to work well under pressure.

6. Language Skills:

  • Fluent in both written and spoken English.

  • Fluent in spoken Chinese.
