Eaton Corporation Project Manager NPD - Aerospace in South Molton, United Kingdom
For our site in South Molton - part of our The Fuel and Motion Control Systems (FMC) - we are looking for a Project Manager.
Responsibilities:
General responsibility for meeting the schedule, scope, cost and technical targets on New Product Development (NPD) project(s)
Lead project teams and execute a gated product development process
Work closely with Stakeholders both internal and external to maximize growth through new or existing product used in both military and commercial platforms. This will include actively using and supporting the PROLaunch process
Lead Projects through an Integrated Program Team using clear methodology to Plan, Track & Execute to achieve program objectives (Cost, Quality and Schedule). Leverage core project management skills and key tools such as PROLaunch, anticipates challenges and makes proactive adjustments to meet commitments
Meet commitments by Clear Guidance, Attention to Detail, Performance Management, Pro-activity and the ability to drive Accountability
Instill confidence, obtain necessary support and manage internal & external Customer Expectations via in depth program knowledge and strong Communications & Negotiations skills. A thorough understanding of the Program/Project Specifications and/or Contract from a compliance and negotiations perspective is required. Take full ownership of their program
Understand how value is created at all levels of the business and how to deliver the project objectives and milestones. Comfortable discussing financials with various levels of leadership
Effectively lead a cross-functional team to meet program commitments. Influence & motivate others to perform in a matrix environment
Leverage prior lessons learned, capture new lessons learned, and shares them
Derive the Profit Plan and support the Profit Plan Process for the appropriate Program(s)/Project(s)
Provide input and direction to the project team in areas of customer concerns, potential changes in scope and risk assessment, and co-ordinate responses where appropriate. Work closely with business leads & contracts to negotiate scope changes
Provide full visibility of Performance (including schedule and cost variance) to all relevant parties. Focus and advise on managerial concerns of the program (e.g., technical, cost, schedule and resource allocation). Maintain and report key metrics for senior management including development program milestone OTD and PROLaunch status
Use risk management methodologies to identify and mitigate or offset risk. Identify opportunities to increase revenue and/or margin through customer change, additional work scope, or Customer Claims
Support Proposal preparation for new products and programs
Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace), Information Technology, or Business/Management
Between 1 - 3 years' of experience in Program Management or a combination of Program/Project Management with Engineering and/or Product Development Management
Proficient in Program and Project Management methodologies, processes and tools
Experienced in Aerospace New Product Development (NPD) programs
Strong analytical skills and business acumen, organisational skills - ability to manage multiple projects/activities and solid communication/influencing skills, and ability to interface at all levels
Technical aptitude is preferred
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Software especially Microsoft Project
Understanding of the role of Program Manager in all PROLaunch gate phases
Leadership skills - capability to lead change in an Integrated Team (IPT) environment across multiple sites and customers globally
Project Management Institute (PMI) accreditation (PMP) highly preferred
Excellent presentation skills, with ability to make necessary status reports and technical presentations to both management team and customer
Experience in Risk Management
Knowledge of contracts and project finance
