We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Interim Chief Nurse Officer for St. Joseph's Health Hospital in Syracuse, New York. The Interim Chief Nurse Officer will play a pivotal role providing executive leadership to the acute and ambulatory services for the overall direction, leadership and implementation of quality, risk and patient safety goals, measures and outcomes to impact patient care and enhance and sustain the highest quality and patient safety across the St. Joseph’s Health (SJH) enterprise.

The CNO has a matrix reporting relationship to the St. Joseph’s Senior Vice President, Acute Operations and the Trinity Health Chief Nursing Officer. In all roles and activities, it is anticipated that the Interim CNO will network and build consensus, collaborate, and problem solve. This position will play a key role in the implementation of strategic and operating plans.

The Interim CNO is responsible for, but is not limited to the following:

  • Leading the organization by creating a learning environment for ongoing quality improvement and safety for board members, senior management, physicians and nursing leadership and staff across the SJH network.

  • Leading continuous improvement programs and initiatives throughout SJH to develop a culture of continuous improvement and excellence throughout the organization.

  • Directing and implementing comprehensive evidence-based programs, practices and activities that realize continuous improvement in clinical quality and patient safety

  • Providing leadership to promote, strengthen and reinforce a culture of quality and patient safety where leadership and staff are engaged and committed to member needs and expectations

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York is required.

  • Minimum five years CNO experience, required.

  • Master's Degree

  • Ability to work in a complex matrix-reporting environment.

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare (CPHQ) preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and implement quality improvement initiatives.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead medical staff quality initiatives.

  • Strong leadership skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required in order to effectively discuss quality issues and performance and to foster culture of St. Joseph's Health and Trinity Health.

Gross weekly pay rate is $5000.00 and Trinity Health will pay for travel and accommodations.
