1 Category Engineering Overview Civil Engineer/Project Manager Job Summary: Huitt-Zollars, Inc has full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineer/Project Manager for our Tacoma office with at least 8-10 years' experience and will be a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Washington. This Project Manager position should have experience in the management and design of a wide-range of land development projects and public works projects for various industrial, commercial and/or residential development projects. Duties include but not limited to, initial project research, plan production and management of plan production staff, plan processing and management of plan processing efforts, construction administration and project close out efforts Location: Tacoma, WA Reports to: Managing Principal Employment Type: 40 FT Hours Compensation Type: Salary Registration(s): Professional Engineer Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE). Duties/Responsibilities: Function as a Lead Civil Engineer Prepare preliminary engineering reports. Research jurisdictional requirements for appropriate incorporation into design and construction drawings Prepare of proposal/contract and of project work plans and schedule Prepare design and construction drawings using AutoCAD and information obtained from research activities Coordinate client management and marketing efforts for future work. Prepare GIS exhibits using ArcGIS Conduct site visits and documents findings Work directly with clients and directing a staff with varied levels of experience and expertise Attend, record, and distribute meeting minutes and assist with general project correspondence Writes or prepares graphic materials for presentations or documents Lead a team of engineers and drafters Initiate and lead kickoff calls or high-level design calls with client in addition to preparing monthly forecasting and client cost estimates when appropriate Qualifications: BS Degree in Civil Engineering Must be a licensed PE in Washington with a minimum of 8-10 years of experience Experience with producing accurate and complete construction plans and reports Ability to work independently in a team environment and to manage multiple projects with limited supervision Must be able to work directly with clients and directing a staff with varied levels of experience and expertise. Excellent verbal and written skills, communicating engineering information clearly and concisely Ability to train staff and review work for quality assurance Solid leadership and management skills, self-motivated, and possess a strong ability to meet deadlines, satisfy clients, and solve complex problems Knowledge of MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Civil3D are all a plus Highly organized and detail oriented Willingness/ability to assume increased responsibilities when presented Consistently deliver proactive communication with clients. When client issues arise, address or expeditiously escalate to discipline lead Develop relationships with clients that allows for ease in communications and problem solving Troubleshoot issues and recommend solutions, effectively implement and document for internal and external stakeholders Competencies: Acquires, understands, and applies technical and professional knowledge and skills to perform job effectively, efficiently, and safely.
