Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100 million gallons or 2.5 million barrels per day. Colonial transports various grades of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, jet fuel, and fuels for the U.S. military through a pipeline system. Colonial transports approximately 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the East Coast, providing refined products to more than 50 million Americans.

About the Director, Technology Service Center Position

As the Director, Technology Service Center (TSC) you will oversee, and manage multiple technology functions including but not limited to the Service Desk, Help Desk and Technology Service Delivery teams. This position’s primary function is ensuring technology operations teams are properly supported and maintained, Following ITSM standards for best practice. Maximizing availability, capacity, and reliability. The Director, Technology Service Center responsibilities include leading enterprise support, Technology Incident response; enabling automation of processes to optimize day-to-day enterprise technology operations; and building on the development of Colonial’s Information Technology Service management process. As a leader overseeing the response and resolution of critical technology software and infrastructure (IT & OT) outages for pipelines, this position shares technical knowledge, collaborates with, and is a critical partner with security to ensure cybersecurity and physical security protocols are adhered. As a key member and leader in Technology Operations, you will collaborate closely with the technology engineering and architecture teams to ensure that all platforms and deployments are delivered to the Technology Operations organization fully documented, compliant, and ready to be monitored and supported. This role will ensure all run books and best practice documents are delivered and accepted. The Director is also responsible for developing a strategic vision by assessing support needs and capability requirements from stakeholders and assuring those requirements are addressed, providing tracking, and reporting of KPIs and other metrics to Technology Senior leadership. This position is a critical member of the Technology Leadership Team working collaboratively across the Technology Business Unit to enable CPC business functions through technology.

  • Develop and implement strategic plans that align the technology service center with organizational objectives and identify automation opportunities.

  • Identify emerging trends, and best practices in Technology service and support to enhance service delivery and customer satisfaction.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership and stakeholders to define KPIs and metrics for evaluating the effectiveness of the technology service center and identify opportunities for automation.

  • Develop policies and processes to support ITIL framework for best practice of service delivery.

  • Planning and execution of, Service Strategy, Service design, Service transition and Service operation.

  • Develop processes that defines ownership and accountability of technology incident management and response and ensure adherence to SLAs for service delivery.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to service center staff, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and service excellence.

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify opportunities for skills development and training.

  • Proactively seek customer feedback and address concerns, and service.

  • Identify the gaps in technology support and build portfolio to address gaps.

  • Develop and maintain run books for technology support.

  • Identify ways to help eliminate or prevent technical debt and report to infrastructure leader.

  • Collaborate with Cyber security on Cyber incident response and support pipeline incident response teams.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information management, engineering, business, or related field of study from an accredited college or university; will consider a combination of experience and/or education,

  • Ideally, 10+ years of experience managing technology operations teams in mid to large size organizations.

  • Ideally, 5+ years of experience with service management platforms as well as Technology management experience.

  • Experience with digital transformation, change management, incident, and problem management.

  • Ability to develop a culture of service excellence.

  • Ability to foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.

  • Ability to motivator and develop talent.

  • Passionate about technology and the operations discipline; self-driven and knows how to get things done.

  • Ability to translate and distill complex technical concepts into easy-to-understand solutions and constructs for a variety of executive, business, and partner audiences.

  • Strong relationship-building skills, fostering an ability to influence leaders.

  • Understanding of financial concepts to support budgeting, cost benefit analysis, and business case development.

  • Excellent communication and reasoning skills, including the ability to make a compelling case for technology choices.
