Manage museums public programs, working in concert with Director, Deputy Director of Operations, and other staff with the goals of engaging new and existing audiences and generating admissions and membership income.Pro-actively cultivate and identify programmatic connections to exhibitions and institutional goals that drive audience participation and generate interest in the museum.Manage process for developing programs, including identifying/proposing themes, activities, and talent/partners; serve as the museum-wide hub for this planning; review/respond to ideas and proposals cross-departmentally; ensure ideas and schedule align with the departmental and museum budget.Oversee and monitor schedules, including the program series annual calendars, the individual event schedule/description that support museum-wide planning and deadlines (including communications), and the day-of production schedule and show flow.Schedule and manage Public Programs Committee meetings; participate in logistics and planning meetings and earned income meetings.Manage communication with and booking/reserving of talent and outside vendors, including sound, stage, caterers, etc.Oversee technology and production requirements, including sound systems, projectors, lighting, etc.Oversee all program-related paperwork, including drafting, negotiating, and processing public program contracts and vendor verification, coordinating internal reviews, and working with Director of Finance and Administration to secure university approvals.Coordinate with development team to assist in efforts to secure sponsors and donors for programs; ensure accuracy in sponsor or donor recognition.Oversee on-site management of events, including staffing event with the appropriate members from the public programs team, from other museum departments, or volunteers.Develop and oversee evaluation of programs to ensure success and visitor satisfaction, working in concert with visitor services and communications teams. Create final reports to assist in evaluation and planning.Supervise one full-time Public Programs Production Assistant and a small pool of contract workers (Managers on Duty/MODs for day of program); responsible for hiring and annual evaluations, as well as planning and delegating of strategic departmental goals.Create and monitor budget for department. Participate in setting income projections and monitor progress.
