This position oversees and coordinates all clinical experiences for medical students in psychiatry. The Director of Medical Student Education also serves as a liaison to the School of Medicine. The Director reports to the Chief of Education. The principal tasks are outlined below. _Junior Clerkship_– Principal tasks include: * Oversee and Coordinate Clerkship * Make Clerkship Assignments and Schedules and adjust as necessary. * Schedule Clerkship (MS3) Didactics – recurring monthly schedule. * Chair Grading Committee (monthly meeting) and submit grades. * Attend monthly meetings of o SOM Advancement o Clinical Coordinating o Clinical Years committees * Orientation to Clerkship Lecture * Other Lectures if desired * Order and Proctor Exam _Sub-Internship and Psychiatry Electives _– Principal tasks include: * Make Assignments and Schedules for Maryland and Away Students * Gather and submit grades. _Additional Responsibilities_ · Mentor/advisor for students interested in pursuing a career in Psychiatry. · Coordinate the Exploring Careers in Medicine (ECM) experience for first year medical students. · Coordinate with the directors of Pre-clinical Psychiatry Training · Assist with the pre-clinical psychiatry teaching and the CAPP program as time allows. · Other clinical experiences as recommended by the School of Medicine · Other responsibilities as mutually agreed to with the Chief of Education /The University of Maryland, Baltimore and UMSOM are equal opportunity/affirmative action employers.
