Asia Pacific Language School, based in Bellevue, Washington: The Chinese Language Teacher will teach Chinese (Mandarin) and culture instruction for kindergarten and first grade students in Chinese (Mandarin) and English. The position will create an environment conducive to the learning and maturation process; plan an instructional program designed to meet the needs of young children which may include "at-risk" or special needs youth; and prepare lesson plans. The position will also use necessary and appropriate instructional methods and materials, which are suited to the well-being of children and to the nature of their learning activities, program and/or curriculum involved; implement curriculum objectives; attend in-service training and continue to improve professional growth through study and experimentation to remain current in methods and techniques for instruction. The Chinese Language Teacher will also establish and implement a positive and supportive learning environment for young children; provide guidance and discipline to encourage students to learn and to grow in a multicultural environment; conduct evaluations and parent-teacher conferences, and prepare and provide report cards to parents; collect and interpret a variety of data; provide reports for administrative purposes; and attend or participate in all required staff meetings and other activities deemed necessary by the school, in order to accomplish the objectives of the position and for professional development. The minimum requirements for the position are a Bachelor's degree in Education, Educational Studies, Foreign Language (Chinese or English), or a closely related field. Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin) is also required (reading, writing, and speaking). Must be able to pass standard background check.
