WSP USA Intermediate Scheduler in Calgary, Alberta

WSP is currently seeking an Intermediate Scheduler, to join our estimating department, located at either our Calgary office. Reporting to the Pre-construction Operations Manager, this position will be a support to the Lead Scheduler in area of schedule development, project proposal scheduling and project controls reporting. Specialized in management of changes, the Intermediate scheduler will create schedule impacts scenarios (before and after), maintain baselines, provide inputs to schedule variance analysis as well as support the business development team with scheduling needs.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Timely identification, notification, optimization and recording of schedule scenarios supporting trends items that have potential for future impact within project scope;

  • Able to perform critical path analysis;

  • Ability to work with internal and external clients to create integrated EPC/client schedules;

  • Develop different level of schedules for proposal;

  • Assisting in the improvement of the management of changes procedures;

  • Provide technical support and work collaboratively with Project Managers to ensure that the project schedule scenarios (what if) are developed to satisfaction;

  • Maintain the master schedule baseline for engineering, procurement and construction activities;

  • Work in close collaboration with other departments to prepare consistent outputs;

  • Convey an understanding of project evolution and serve as a preventative mechanism for unforeseen cost and schedule impacts.

  • Plan staffing and project hours to ensure necessary resources are available and appropriately assigned for both approved and proposed work;

  • Evaluate impact of the project trends for cost and schedule, provide most accurate total impacts by ensuring inclusion of all cost categories (engineering, material, equipment, construction) and schedule impacts;

  • Ensure all project/discipline related risks are raised;

  • Record risk items, update, and maintain risk register;

  • Manage internal and external client expectations and coach others in effective negotiation.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • High school graduate with a minimum 5 years’ experience as a P6 Scheduler

  • Experience with Primavera P6 a must;

  • Valuable experience in planning is considered and asset

  • Understanding management of changes implications

  • Understanding Earned Value Management guiding principles considered a plus.

  • Must be able to analyze the effect of schedule performance on project completion

  • Must be flexible and able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks

  • Attention to detail is critical

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills
