Wells Fargo Lead Institutional Investment Operations Specialist in CHARLOTTE, North Carolina

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Institutional Investment Operations Specialist to join our Asset Services team as part of Corporate and Investment (CIB) Operations.

This team is responsible for managing and controlling high levels of risk and liability inherent in the Asset Servicing process. The group processes all aspects of the lifecycle of Asset Servicing events, for all asset classes and across all markets.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the corporate actions and voluntary functions & related processes in multiple locations

  • Reconcile and manage the full lifecycle of voluntary corporate action events inclusive of Event Capture, Notifications, Elections, Reconciliation and Payments.

  • Work with Agent Banks, Custodians, and external counterparties to ensure complete understanding of events and ensuring data flows are correct with respect to event processing.

  • Communicate with Operations colleagues, Technology Partners, Project Managers and Middle and Front Office Business Partners.

  • Lead risk management for events processed and maintenance of associated procedures.

  • Lead complex initiatives in operational and customer service for lifecycle support for institutional trade flow functions including client account onboarding, cash payments, customer service, funding or custodial operations, securities settlement services, structure loan operations, reconciliation as well as support resolution of issues in and out of their responsibility

  • Act as key participant in large scale planning, gathering data to support resolution of issues in areas in and out of responsibility

  • Review and research complex multi-faceted operational and customer support on loan, securities and derivative product issues for institutional trade flow and provide oversight and add efficiencies to processes that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factors

  • Demonstrate full knowledge and serve as leadership on projects along with internal and industry related industries

  • Make decisions in complex and multi-faceted loan, securities and derivative products requiring understanding of the function, policies, procedures and compliance requirements

  • Influence and lead broader work team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives

  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals

  • Lead projects and teams, or serve as a peer mentor

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Institutional Investment Operations experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Asset Services and Corporate Actions, preferred to have 5+ years of current and direct involvement with this function.

  • Ability to demonstrate a strong understanding of stock loan, securities, and derivative products as related to corporate actions.

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Effective organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Broadridge applications, preferred to have knowledge with BANCS (corporate actions processing platform).

  • Experience with a customer service mindset and a focus on continuous improvement

  • Knowledge of DTCC for allocations and elections

  • Knowledge of non-US depositories (e.g. Euroclear; Clearstream)

  • Experience working with custodians, depositories, agents, and external brokers to ensure timely and accurate processing of events to client accounts and to appropriately manage risk.

Job Expectations:

  • Registration for FINRA Series 99 or Series 7 must be completed within 120 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted.

  • For specific FINRA qualification exams obtained after 9/30/2018, the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam co-requisite may also be required

  • This position offers a hybrid work schedule (minimum 3 days per week onsite) in the preferred location listed below.
