Job Description

We are seeking an experienced tax professional that will play a key role in U.S. Bank’s tax organization. This leader will be responsible for providing tax technical and risk mitigation support for tax planning and strategic business initiatives including monitoring legislative and regulatory changes. This individual will work with senior tax leaders to provide support and analysis for mergers and acquisitions. Additionally, they will collaborate broadly across the Corporate Tax team, Business Line Finance, and support functions at U.S. Bank.

Responsibility detail:

  • Tax technical resource for the tax reporting and compliance teams related to specific tax planning, strategic initiatives, and legislative changes.

  • Collaborate with the SVP Tax Planning and cross-functional teams (treasury, legal accounting, etc.) to understand and support strategies, assess tax implications, and identify opportunities to create value and manage risks.

  • Work closely with the EVP Corporate Tax, SVP Tax Planning and Corporate Development team to support mergers and acquisitions including tax due diligence, identifying risks and opportunities, structuring, and integration.

  • Monitor global tax policy changes, identify risks and opportunities, model potential impacts, communicate with key stakeholders, and partner with the business to implement strategies to mitigate risks.

  • Partner across the U.S. Bank tax team to provide knowledge sharing, training, and share best practices.

  • Review and provide comments on transaction documents coordinating with outside counsel as needed.

  • Work with and manage relationships with external advisors as necessary.

  • Provide additional support, as needed, for tax planning and compliance initiatives.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in corporate tax with a focus on planning and strategic support

  • CPA and/or MBT

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. tax laws and regulations

  • Strong tax technical skills including the ability to analyze and calculate the tax consequences of proposed transactions and legislative changes for use in financial modeling.

  • Working knowledge of ASC 740 and ability to partner with tax accounting to ensure transactions are properly recorded.

  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate across the various groups within the business organization including legal, accounting, treasury, finance, operations, etc.

  • General understanding of international tax laws and regulations.

  • Experience working with and managing relations with external advisors.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $145,180.00 - $170,800.00 - $187,880.00
