The Development Director will serve as an ambassador of University of Miami Athletics to exiting and prospective donors capable of advancing the deparment’s mission. This individual will be responsible for sercuring gifts through relationships with assigned prospects and athletic constituents. Assists in coordinating fundraising strategy for leadership and major giving platforms, as well as the planning and implementation of giving across priorities for UM Athletics. Assists the Associate Athletic Director for Development with other fund raising projects, as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, build, solicit and manage prospect portfolio of 100-125 major giving prospects and moving them through the giving process, with focus on establishing new prospects for the Department of Athletics.

  • Conduct 75+ impactful interactions and 25+ major gift solicitations per year.

  • Responsible for ensuring proper recording of prospect strategies, actions, stages and proposals in IBIS Software.

  • Assist in coordinating research of prospective donors and assists in the management and development of the fund raising plan for capital campaigns.

  • Assist in writing of solicitation proposals and acknowledgment letters: create and edit fundraising materials.

  • Assist in managing fundraising strategy in coordination with the Associate AD for Development to maximize donation revenue and major gift pipeline efficiency.

  • Recommend policies and procedures designed to enhance annual fundraising to support the student-athelte experience Identify and research funding sources from alumni, season ticket holders, and special event attendees.

  • Assist in development of comprehensive communications strategy supporting the overall fundraising process.

  • Works with university development office.

  • Research and solicitation of planned and deferred gifts.

  • Other duties as assigned by Associate Athletic Director for Advancement or designee.

  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with all NCAA, Atlantic Coast Conference, University of Miami and departmental policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • At least three years of development experience, athletics experience preferred. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.

  • Outstanding oral and written skills are necessary along with the ability to be highly organized, creative, energetic, and assertive and exhibit independent judgment and personal integrity.

  • A teamwork oriented approach to colleagues and proven ability to work in a positive and constructive environment are essential.
