This position is in the US Consumer Services Business Unit – Marketing Analytics team.

The USCS team is passionate about making membership an indisputable competitive advantage and helping each other become better leaders every day. The U.S. Consumer Marketing team (USCM) is part of the US Consumer Services Group and is responsible for making membership essential by creating and delivering world class marketing for our differentiated products and services that drives demand and inspires engaged card members across the customer lifecycle.

This specific role will be responsible for leading the charter on Sentinel & Anti-Gaming Analytics to Identify gamers across the CM lifecycle and drive profitable funding and targeting decisions leading to higher investment efficiency.

As the leader of a team of data scientists and analysts, the role will be responsible for creating the go-forward vision for consumer gaming and establishing a holistic approach across customer life cycle. It will specifically focus on developing a comprehensive & futuristic framework which will transition from independent use case specific controls to a centralizing intelligence capability which has a potential opportunity of driving $400M in TUFI saves.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Define business strategies for Sentinel & Anti-Gaming work stream in collaboration with partners across the enterprise

  • Liaison across different stakeholders within business, marketing, product, finance, risk management and data science teams for driving intelligence mitigate underperforming investments

  • Power in-depth strategic analysis and decision making on the back of rigorous data analytics on customer behaviors across the CM lifecycle to create actionable recommendations.

  • Expand controls coverage, scope and treatments as well as enhancing precision and accuracy of our solutions, while continuing to adhere to the highest levels of governance standards

  • Build and nurture a highly engaged and strong performing team that has right blend of subject knowledge, collaboration and focus on driving business results

Past Experience & Academic Background:

  • 8 years of work experience demonstrating analytics and data science to drive business results

  • Advanced degree in a statistics/business/economics/decision science related field

Functional Skills/Capabilities:

  • Analytical and problem-solving experience, with the ability to break-down a complex problem into components and coach others on how to apply the relevant quantitative analysis to answer the business question.

  • Extensive knowledge of the US Consumer AMEX consumer portfolios and a firm understanding their revenue and expense drivers

  • Proven ability to work well across multi-functional teams, influence and create meaningful relationships with partners as a trusted advisor.

  • Strong communications skills with an ability to influence through written and oral means and demonstrated ability to craft an analytical story for Senior Level audiences.

  • Prior experience leading an impactful, engaged team required

Technical Skills/Capabilities:

  • Prior experience on US consumer data and ability to coach the team on standard processes in querying extremely large and complex datasets using big data programming languages (Python, Hive, Scala).

  • Expert knowledge of experimental test design and ability to inform business strategy based on statistical findings

  • Strong knowledge of advance machine learning techniques and data driven solutions to business challenges
