Job Description

As an Application Development Engineer II at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., you will have the unique opportunity to work in our Semiconductor business unit within the Materials and Structural Analysis Division (MSD). In this role, you will play a crucial part in assisting customers in gaining valuable insights that lead to significant advancements, and contribute to the overall success of our organization. You will be responsible for developing efficient solutions for customers to make informed process decisions using our advanced workflows and automation software on Thermo Fisher Scientific's dual beam systems. Equivalent experience will also be considered for educational requirements like MSD.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, characterize, and document workflows or applications that automate small and wafer dual beam microscope functionality for semiconductor customers.

  • Use automated software for scanning electron microscope applications (i.e. AutoTEM/iFast/Python/Machine Learning).

  • Create customer training material and collaborate with the team to translate customer needs into workable solutions.

  • Provide technical support to assist with all phases of the sales cycle.

  • Cultivate positive customer relationships, clearly communicate customer needs/requirements to key partners, give in-depth technical presentations, and assist in applications development.

  • Provide customer support and applications training after instrument installation.

  • Provide continuous feedback to the product groups on system performance, features, and potential problems while collaborating with marketing/development groups on future product developments.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in technical engineering, engineering, sciences, or related field.

  • 0-1 years of experience in a research environment with recent experience applying small and/or wafer DualBeam technology.

  • PFIB experience is desired.

  • Experience with TEM sample prep or Cross-sectional workflows with DualBeam is preferred.

  • Experience with Machine Learning techniques

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Clear interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, targeted for a diverse audience are essential to success in this role.

  • Excellent customer interfacing skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams from various backgrounds and areas of expertise.

  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 25%; possession of a valid passport is suggested.
