The Merchandise Business Analyst is responsible for participating in the review & improvement of business processes, gathering application requirements, assisting with vendor management, and providing exceptional customer service to internal users. Works with moderately complex data, and SQL queries to develop interactive reports in Power BI, bringing insights and value to key stakeholders.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Category Management
Provides customer service to field associates and corporate associates as needed.
Supports the relationship management with national strategic vendors and internal partners
Supports Request for Proposals (RFP) and vendor contract negotiations, including costs and terms with vendors, that support business goals and long-term strategy
Data Analysis & Presentation
Develops & recommends business insights based on analysis of results, and communicates key findings to various members of management to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
Assists in the development of measurement processes/methods for assessing progress towards goals and project outcomes.
Supports efforts to define business and systems requirements including documenting processes, business requirements and resulting technology needs.
Prepares reports, performs analyses, and evaluates opportunities.
Develops polished executive-level Power BI reports and confidently delivers information in a clear and concise fashion.
Assists in identifying best practices through a review of processes.
Establishes and maintains relationships with various departments and vendors.
Project Management
Works with team management to maintain project plans on key projects.
Escalates obstacles/issues to meeting timelines and deliverables.
Attends project meetings by reporting project status according to prescribed timelines for a given project.
MINIMUM Requirements
Education
- Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Finance or a related discipline.
Experience
A minimum of three (3) years of experience as an Analyst in a related field with emphasis on forecasting/demand planning and quantitative analysis.
One (1) year of experience using Power BI to build metrics/KPIs dashboards with refreshable data connections.
Experience working on companywide projects, including development & implementation preferred.
Experience in merchandising & procurement or equivalent experience in a related field preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong oral and written communication skills with all levels of management, end-users and peers
Proficient in Power BI for developing interactive dashboards and reports.
Ability to transform data in Power Query and write measures in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions)
Understanding of UI for report development, with the goal of creating intuitive and easily digestible insights for end-users
Proficient in Microsoft Suite, including: Excel (advance skills required), Power Point, Word, and Outlook
Demonstrated track record of process improvement
Good leadership, interpersonal and motivational skills
Proven ability to work within a team and independently with minimal supervision, with wide latitude for the use of initiative, discretion and independent judgment
Ability to multi-task, and effectively prioritize workload in a fast-paced, frequently changing environment while remaining detailed and organized
Analyze, draw independent conclusions and present findings and recommendations to achieve company goals and strategic objectives
A drive to continuously advance your understanding of Power BI and industry trends
Category Management in Procurement is a plus
Coupa (Purchase Orders, Invoices, Hosted Catalogs/Item maintenance, and Sourcing) experience a plus
Intermediate SQL experience is a plus

Work Environment
Work indoors during all seasons and weather conditions
Limited amount of local and/or multiple location traveling required
Standard business dress is required

- Physical effort requiring manual dexterity is required, includes paperwork, calculators, computers and phone usage
