What will you gain exposure to?

As a Apprentice BI Developer you will join our high performing Marketing Intelligence & Effectiveness team, and you will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of technical solutions for BAU reporting and administering systems to ensure relevant, up to date and accurate data is available. You will have the opportunity to use a variety of technologies, enhance your coding knowledge and learn how to work in an agile delivery team. There will be opportunities to specialise as you develop your skills and experience and become a subject matter expert.

Over time, you will become an expert in Power BI, SQL and DAX helping to develop, enhance and implement datasets that drive decision making across all levels of the business. You will also partner with business teams to help them to self-serve readily available, accurate data from the BI systems. You will get the opportunity to work with a variety of business functions and grow a good understanding of how data is used across core business systems to drive business operations.

As well as on-the-job learning, you’ll benefit from five personal development days which you can use to boost your skills and industry knowledge. We also encourage all our colleagues to make an impact in their local communities, by giving them five fully paid days per year to volunteer, fundraise or do other charitable work through Sage Foundation.

Useful skills and experience:

• Good numerical reasoning and logic ability with problem solving skills

• Be an active and enthusiastic team player

• Demonstrable desire for learning and self-progression

• Good communication skills

Preferred Experience (2 or 3)

• 1-year practical experience, or professional experience

• Experience or exposure to working with SQL or other relevant coding languages such as DAX would be advantageous

• Experience or exposure to BI visualisation tools (Power BI is our core tool) or any other BI products would be advantageous

• Experience working with large data sets (>1m rows) would also be advantageous

Apply online with your CV and complete our screening process. If our Early Careers team believes you might be a match, you’ll be asked to complete a video interview (you’ll receive a link to complete a video interview within 1 week of applying).

If successful, you’ll join a shortlist of candidates for the assessment centre. This is a full-day virtual event between May and July 2024. Please ensure that you are available from 09:00-17:00 on this date when applying. It’s a great opportunity for you to let your talents shine and showcase your skills! It’s a mixture of team and individual activities, so you can show us what you’re made of. From there, we will consider you for an apprenticeship position.
