Provide support to assigned locations within the business unit to maintain EHS compliance and achieve continuous improvement by utilizing the DFA EHS Management System. Manage environmental and safety efforts for assigned locations. Provide assistance to facility EHS Element Champions, including location leadership, to identify and correct at-risk behaviors and conditions. Support regulatory compliance efforts division-wide in close collaboration with other EHS team members. This role will support our plants in Zumbrota, MN, Bruce WI and El Dorado Springs, MO and can be located at any one of these locations or the DFA headquarters office in Kansas City, KS.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide practical oversight on environmental and workplace safety matters for assigned locations
Work with assigned locations to adhere to EHS practices; implement EHS programs and policies outlined by OSHA, EPA, State / Local Regulatory Agencies and DOT, as appropriate; and maintain all pertinent records to maintain compliance with EHS regulations and internal standards
Conduct assessments of assigned locations to identify risks and develop corrective action plans for at-risk behaviors and conditions which may cause injury, regulatory non-compliance, or property loss
Work with assigned locations to maintain a culture of consistently safe behavior and compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies
Where required, work with assigned locations and Business Unit EHS Manager to gather information or data necessary for permitting and reporting activities for air, NPDES, wastewater, stormwater, EPCRA Tier II, Form R, refrigerant management, spill reporting, and other applicable environmental regulations
Work with assigned locations and Business Unit EHS Manager to gather information necessary for developing action plans and regulatory correspondence to address areas of non-compliance identified through regulatory inspections or required testing
Implement and maintain internal EHS standards and practices for assigned locations
Provide and/or support all required training mandated by regulatory and corporate EHS guidelines and practices for assigned locations
Partner with locations to conduct incident investigations to determine the root cause of injury or release and any at-risk behavior
Work with assigned locations to develop corrective actions and track to completion
Maintain awareness of all workers’ compensation claims for assigned locations and work collaboratively with Business Unit EHS Manager to support management of claims
Work with assigned locations to ensure correction of observed deficiencies

Minimum Requirements:
Education and Experience
Must be willing to travel 50-75% of the time
5-7 years’ experience in Environmental, Health and Safety in a manufacturing environment and/or
AS/BA/BS in Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
Must have a valid license to operate a passenger vehicle
Certification and/or License – ASP/CSP/CIH Certification, desirable but not required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Practical knowledge of OSHA standards and requirements, both federal and state regulations
Practical knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations
Basic knowledge of EHS management principles
Familiarity with the workers’ compensation process
Knowledge of and basic skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems
Able to organize time, energy, and resources effectively to achieve goals (i.e., organizational skills) with minimal guidance
Able to manage multiple priorities
Able to demonstrate qualities as a self-starter
Able to work independently and perform task and duties with minimal supervision
Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, for a diverse range of internal and external audiences
Must be able to present to front line team members and facility management
Must be able to read, write, and speak English
