Job ID361016 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyStudent Services Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code9702AN Employee ClassAcad Prof and Admin About the Job The College of Science and Engineering (CSE) and the Office of Admissions is seeking a highly motivated, focused, and results-oriented CSE Admissions Counselor. This position will represent the College of Science and Engineering to prospective students, prospective student families, and high school officials in Minnesota while providing customer service to prospective students from a variety of geographical locations and identities, including racial and ethnic backgrounds. This is a 100%-time, 12-month, annually renewable appointment in the academic professional and administrative (P&A) personnel series (classification 9702AN, SS Pro 2-Admissions). This position includes an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/LTD insurance, 403(b) retirement plan, 22 paid time off days, one personal holiday in addition to the existing 11 University holidays. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Freshman Recruitment (35%) * Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective first-year students interested in pursuing College of Science and Engineering majors at the U of M. * Recruit and facilitate enrollment of high-achieving and underrepresented prospective College of Science and Engineering students. * Participate and assist with the execution of CSE recruitment via targeted calling campaigns to encourage students to attend on-campus events and visits. Application Review & Office of Admissions Support (35%) * Provide admissions counseling and extra-mile customer service to prospective freshman students. Manage and respond to all freshman CSE inquiries, including phone calls, emails, text messages, calling campaigns, etc. * Evaluate academic and other credentials for admission decision and counseling purposes for freshman CSE applicants. Campus Visit Coordination (15%) * Proactively plan and execute specialized visits to create a memorable experience for students by following a strategic visit model created by the Office of Admissions and the College of Science and Engineering. * Collaborate with CSE to plan, facilitate, and execute campus visits for students. Yield & Enrollment Project Support/Collaboration (15%) * Identify top students to recommend for merit and need-based scholarships aligned with the enrollment goals of CSE * Use data and personal student relationships to inform CSE of important information and impactful recruitment efforts. * Maintain frequent contact with both CSE and Admissions stakeholders, acting as a liaison between offices. * Lead the College of Science and Engineering Ambassadors and effectively implement them into recruitment efforts. * Special projects as assigned by the College of Science and Engineering and the Office of Admissions, based on personal strengths or abilities. Salary range for admissions counselor is $45,000 - $50,000, depending on qualifications. Work Arrangement: Hybrid with onsite location in the Williamson Building, Office of Admissions, 231 Pillsbury Dr SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree plus two years of relevant experience, or a master's degree. * Must be able to travel regionally and nationally, sometimes overnight * Ability to work evenings/weekends as needed * Demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in practice * Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with exceptional attention to detail. * Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking and/or recruitment experience. * Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt to a changing environment. * Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and departments to maintain healthy stakeholder relationships. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Preference given to candidates with University of Minnesota experience, d fined broadly, such as former student, graduate, employee, or community member of any campus * Preference given to candidates with admissions and/or recruitment experience. * Event planning, project management, and/or customer service experience preferred.
