The Comfort Group Senior Accountant in Nashville, Tennessee
The Comfort Group is an award winning mechanical contractor serving clients in Middle Tennessee and North Alabama. We have extensive experience with projects such as: high-rise/urban, aerospace, commercial, education, hospitality, healthcare, laboratory, mission critical, industrial, manufacturing, municipal, multifamily, and others. We are currently seeking candidates for a Senior Accountant for our Nashville office.
The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the Controller for planning, directing, and executing all accounting functions of the company. The candidate for this position should be proficient in project accounting, financial reporting, and have a general understanding of the construction industry.
Responsibilities:
Perform basic and advanced accounting functions including, but not limited to; WIP review and analysis, regular and ad-hoc reporting, journal entry creation, general ledger reconciliation and analysis.
Prepare billing spreadsheets for Project Managers monthly.
Prepare AIA and miscellaneous billings and assist with month-end and year-end close.
Works with Project Managers on project related costs.
Balance intercompany cash accounts.
Work directly with construction management staff ensuring proper compliance with accounting procedures including reviewing and analyzing job cost estimates, budgets, and budget adjustments.
Annually prepare 1096/1099 forms
Manage all aspects of company 401(k) including remitting contributions weekly, managing enrollments, and assisting with yearly audit
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
5 years of progressively complex accounting experience, preferably within the construction or similar industry
Proven experience in a Staff Accountant or Sr. Accountant position, preferred
Job cost accounting experience required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general computer operations
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Experience with construction accounting software systems, preferably Spectrum
Ability to work both independently and within a small team environment.
Must be highly motivated, detail oriented, and able to quickly adapt to change
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
