Your Opportunity

An opportunity exists in Stantec's Ottawa, ON office for a highly motivated Senior Technologist/Digital Delivery Champion, to join our multidisciplinary team. In this role you will be working within a buildings engineering team towards the design and execution of projects ranging in size and complexity, with a focus on municipal, federal, industrial, healthcare, commercial and educational projects. You will also lead the digital delivery team in the alignment of local technology efforts and strategy with overall Business goals and Stantec policy.

Your Key Responsibilities

As the successful candidate, your responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Senior Technologist Responsibilities:

    • Review contract drawings, schematics, schedules, details, and sketches from conceptual design through to construction with a focus on quality of the project deliverables.
    • Implement processes and improve tools in REVIT MEP and AutoCAD to facilitate consistent and efficient drawing production.
    • Comply with industry best practices and project standards, both internal and external. Advise project team on paths forward where standards are in conflict.
    • Communicate with other team members and become familiar with Stantec standards to complete assignments and projects in a timely manner.
  • Digital Delivery Champion Responsibilities:

    • Work with local Leadership and other design leads to:​​
    • Mentor and support designers in the use of drawing production tools and processes.
    • Coordinate priorities in hiring, new tool roll outs, training, etc. ​
    • Identify and develop potential digital service offerings that can be delivered to our clients.​
    • Strengthen digital collaboration within local office; liaise between disciplines and between business lines with a focus on efficient project delivery.
    • Become familiar with corporate technology tools and advocate for their use within the local office. Work with proposal teams, projects teams, and clients to ensure clear and aligned project scopes around technology requirements. ​
    • Ensure that digital delivery members have time allocated (utilization and with staffing) to complete their role related tasks​.
    • Track local digitally delivered complex projects with the focus on anticipating obstacles and reallocating resources to successfully deliver work.
    • Provide feedback on members of the technology team in their roles as part of Year-end Performance Reviews.
  • Project Management Responsibilities:

    • Lead and manage BIM related tasks on multiple, large scope, complex Projects.
    • Advise project teams in the planning, organization, and execution of work throughout the life of Projects with a focus on BIM, digital delivery, and following corporate processes.
    • Inform Project teams of progress on project expectations, deadlines, and deliverables.
    • Serve as technical advisor to Clients and Project teams in matters related to BIM and digital delivery.
    • Assists in the negotiation and development of Project agreements.
    • Advise on Project budgets, schedules, and overall work plans with regards to BIM and digital delivery.
    • Lead project coordination and Owner/site meetings with internal team members and/ or external consultants, Owner and contractor and sub-contractors with a focus on efficiently implementing BIM workflows.
    • In alignment with corporate policies, develop BIM workflows to manage and tracks change orders and other contractual modifications.
    • Advise on project staffing needs and personnel assignments.
    • Participate in business development and Client-facing activities.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)® considered an asset.

  • Construction Documents Technologist (CDT®) considered an asset.

  • Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA) considered an asset.

  • LEED AP considered an asset.

  • Proficiency in Autodesk design and construction products including REVIT, AutoCAD, Docs, and Autodesk Construction Cloud is required.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and staff; a “team player” approach.

  • Self-motivated and self-starter with a strong work ethic.

  • Good time management skills and able to work in a fast-paced environment simultaneously supporting multiple projects.

  • Ability to receive criticism and respond appropriately and professionally, inspire confidence and garner trust and respect with the project team and with clients.

  • Ability to work in French is considered an asset.

Education and Experience

  • Certificate or diploma in an engineering technology program.

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in a consulting engineering environment.
