Description

TheDepartment of Student Developmentis seeking afull time,Associate Vice President (AVP) for Student Experience & Title IX Coordinatorto provide leadership to the departments that facilitate, coordinate, and complement student learning, support services, and community development consistent with Roberts’ mission. This includes university programs and activities relating to the student wellness and Title IX, residential living, spiritual life, student leadership, career and calling, and international engagement. Reporting to the Chief Academic Officer, the AVP for Student Experience works closely with the Senior Advisor to the President for University Culture to promote a culture of care and practices that prioritize the physical, mental and emotional health of everyone within our community. The AVP also serves as the Title IX Coordinator.

Responsibilities

Student Experience :

  • Strategically oversee student development and support by setting the vision, establishing and/or implementing strategic plan priorities, managing resources, and formulating policies and procedures to enhance the student experience, ensure safety, promote growth, retention of students and enrich the learning environment.

  • Promote access and experiential learning for all students through support of educational opportunities on and off campus that contribute to holistic student development.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive plan for student development and support for all students including traditional undergraduate, adult, and graduate students.

  • Provide strategic direction related to the on-campus community of students including residence life, housing, health services, counseling, student activities and programming, and financial matters.

  • Oversee Campus-wide Spiritual Formation, including but not limited to, vision and tone of chapel services, spiritual formation programming, student spiritual growth assessment, and faith integration in curricular and co-curricular settings.

  • Participate and collaborate in Board of Trustee meetings by attending meetings; reporting on Student Experience and strategy issues and activities; and responding to requests and reports from other members to ensure close coordination of planning, budgeting, and governance issues, and promote understanding of student co-curricular life in pursuit of the mission of the College.

  • Maintain regular communication with student leaders by meeting with them and participating in campus activities to ensure a spirit of openness and sensitivity to student needs and priorities.

  • Ensure support for and compliance with the student accountability process to provide a safe and healthy learning environment, diminish incidences of inappropriate behavior, and ensure timely and fair resolution of all allegations of misconduct.

  • In consultation with the Chief Academic Officer, represent the university regarding matters of student development by initiating and supervising college response in crisis situations; and responding in a timely and helpful manner to inquiries from students, parents, or constituents to ensure that the university's commitment to Christian values is both honored and communicated to others.

Title IX :

  • Manage the day-to-day responsibilities associated with the University’s Title IX compliance efforts to ensure effective and consistent investigations related to gender-based harassment and violence.

  • Coordinate the University’s timely response and investigation of complaints regarding Title IX and related University policies.

  • Maintain Title IX case management system.

  • Apply risk management and prevention focus to a broad set of issues including community awareness, bystander intervention, cyber stalking and education regarding healthy relationships.

  • Ensure compliance requirements are met regarding Title IX, VAWA, NYS article 129-B, Enough is Enough and other related state/federal discrimination laws and University Policy.

  • Deliver University-wide education, training and outreach programing related to gender-based inequity, harassment and violence and to coordinate thorough investigations, as needed.

  • Administer, analyze and implement recommended actions from the Campus Climate Survey.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position directly supervises the Dean of Students, Campus Pastor, Director of Career Development, Director of International Engagement.

The approved salary for this position is $87,000.00-$90,000.00/annually. Competitive salary is negotiable based on experience, skills, qualifications, education & training requirements.

Requirements

Education and Experience: Doctorate preferred, Master's degree required and 5-7 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Excellent strategic, organizational, management, supervisory, communication, and relational skills required. Ability to make sound decisions at the highest level, exercising this responsibility within the established guidelines. Experience and training in Title IX and ability to meet annual training obligations required. Applicants with no title IX training must be willing to complete said training within 60-90 days of hire.

Qualifications:Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Roberts Wesleyan University’s ethos, mission, vision and institutional goals.Proven senior level management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple departments, projects and deadlines. Proven ability in organizational development with experience in planning and implementing strategic initiatives, operational execution plan, and fiscal management. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Understanding of information technology and information systems and their application to the institution overall.
