  • * Position Description:

Brazil Settlements Operations team, as a shared services in the Branch Ops Americas, supports the Latin America IED, PB/IPB, FID, FXEM, GCM and IBD covering the following main products: Cash Equities, Stock Loan, Listed Derivatives, IPOs, Custody Service, OTC Derivatives, Structured Notes (COEs) and Deliverable FX.

The team is responsible in the local market for the client custody services, pre-matching and settlement process of the MS affiliates trading in Brazil and for the two local regulated entities: Banco Morgan S.A. and Morgan Stanley CTVM S.A. Among others, the team works very closely with other areas related to the trade capture, trade registration in the market, trade monitoring and exceptions management, lifecycle events, funding and cash management, monitoring, trade affirmation, retrieval of trade confirmation and finally, the trade settlement.

The role requires supporting the Brazil Settlements Operations functions on behalf of the supported entities, to include:

ü Contribute to refining controls and continuously improving and reducing operational risk for their respective area;

ü Demonstrates understanding of supporting systems and product/functional workflow of their area and are aware how their workflow impacts other areas of Operations;

ü Maintain a clear focus on enhancing control and continuously improving and reducing operational risk;

ü Partner with colleagues in different areas of the firm to deliver seamless client experience- effectively and look to navigate the firm to resolve client issues;

ü Articulate thoughts and ideas clearly and concisely using both written and verbal communication methods;

ü Understand what is important and prioritizes accordingly;

ü Ability to explain their role in identifying, escalating and preventing risk issues;

ü Understands the importance of following defined procedures;

ü Proactively escalates issues as they occur;

ü Demonstrates an understanding of local market product rules and client’s (internal & external) requirements;

ü Takes personal responsibility for resolving client issues, is able to clearly escalate cause and resolution.

Skills Required:

ü ;

ü Fluent in English and Portuguese languages;

ü Proven ability to work as part of a team;

ü A methodical approach to analyzing/interpreting data and problem solving;

ü Ability to work under pressure, to time critical deadlines;

ü An intrinsic ability to identify priorities and deliver outputs on time to a consistently high standard;

ü The ability to prepare written reports to a high professional standard alongside effective verbal communication skills;

ü The ability to communicate clearly and decisively to colleagues and senior stakeholders will be a key candidate attribute;

ü An ability to think strategically, to challenge the status quo and to develop solutions to support the business towards delivering its agenda;

ü A desire to develop their career at Morgan Stanley by demonstrating willingness over time, to develop their role and acquire new responsibilities;

ü Ideally, Brazil (bank and/or broker dealer) Settlement Operations experience.

ü Ideally, experience working with Regulators, for example in the interpretation and analysis of information requests, data mining, report preparation and presentations would be beneficial;
