Amazon Senior Financial Analyst, Global Business Innovation to Scale in Seattle, Washington

Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join Amazon Web Services (AWS). SMGS Finance is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join one of its fastest growing divisions. You will be a key member to the finance team supporting the Worldwide Partner Organization. You will dive deep into the business drivers and use a data driven approach to influence business decisions with your findings. The candidate will be responsible for reviewing and enhancing financial models, tools and mechanisms necessary to address business opportunities, drive automation, improve internal controls, and earn trust across AWS. This candidate will be responsible for providing cross functional leadership and supporting initiatives, including across other finance and operations teams within the organization. This person must have a passion for detail and the ability to operate at all levels, including diving deep into the foundational building blocks of the AWS Services, Sales Organization and Business Development Organizations. Additionally, this candidate must effectively communicate both in written and verbal form across all levels of the AWS organization, including up to Senior Leadership.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated great attention to detail, a proven track record of building and improving complex financial models, effective written and verbal communication skills, and a strong desire to continuously learn and invent.

Key job responsibilities

• Influence business decisions with effective verbal and written communication, data driven analysis and modeling, and presentation of options and alternatives.

Collaborate across executive leadership to analyze inputs and outputs, assess business performance, and optimize asset allocation.

• Perform various ad hoc analyses to help business leaders solve business problems and understand the financial implications

• Develop and evolve complex financial models that analyze program- and portfolio-level revenue, profit, and ROI impacts.

• Build rhythm of the business processes that deliver ongoing insights and support day-to-day decision making.

• Engage and influence across the AWS Partner Sales, Finance, and Operations hierarchy, collaborating with stakeholders to optimize our customer’s experience, achieve common goals, and monitor risks.

Evaluate and refine financial models that calculate partner profitability.

• Monitor compliance with controls and systems, and develop new processes and controls as needed to support internal and external financial reporting requirements.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics or business, or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, or CPA

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

  • 4+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience

  • 4+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

  • 4+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience

  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL

  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

  • Experience performing ad hoc analysis using advanced Excel

  • Experience building and managing financial models for business forecasting and problem solving

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $56,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $128,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
