DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: As a Lead Technical Service Representative , you will oversee the Machine Applied Coatings lab and prioritize projects, visit MAC customers, and provide guidance to MAC Technical Services Team. Handle internal and external customer requests that range from product recommendations to trending and analysis, extended warranties, complaint resolution, and in-depth failure analysis. Responsible for leading product benchmarking, applications testing & development, and managing the performance testing for customer growth.

Key Responsibilities * Provide our sales team and end-users with recommendations for products, product systems, and application methods, giving special notice to report on trends, investigate product issues and relay data in a detailed and professional manner. * This role will also oversee activities of other TSR/Technician roles to ensure all segment goals are being met. * Participates in pre-sales and/or post-sales technical support including commissioning, installation, testing and maintenance service to customers. * Plan and conduct benchmarking and applications testing of internal (PPGAC-USCA and global products), as well as competitive products to support sales growth initiatives. * Support product development by creating new and/or improved test methods and driving standardization of testing and reporting. * Conduct applications lab testing to support and advise technical communications and application instructions.

Qualifications: * Five years' of related industry experience * Candidate should have experience with paint application, such as with spray, roll-coating, brush coating, etc, and experience with wood substrates and coatings is preferred. * Must be self-motivated and able to work independently. He/ She must also possess a very strong work ethic, a strong sense of self-accomplishment, and have outstanding problem-solving skills. The ability to effectively deal with conflict, both internal and external, is critical to the success of the position. * Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, and must operate with minimal guidance and supervision. * Excellent oral and written communication skills * Effective social skills are crucial in helping the Technical Service Supervisor interact with different levels of the business as well as different departments within PPG. * Up to 25% business /overnight travel may be required, which will involve travel to customer plants located both in the USA and Canada. * Location for this position will be out of the Pittsburgh area.
