The mission of the Trust Engineering org is to build Trust into the LinkedIn economic graph. As one of the most important arms of Trust Engineering. The team develops cutting-edge product experiences, tooling and automation to prevent and avoid attacks while increasing Trust on LinkedIn.

The Trust Engineering organization at LinkedIn is looking for a Sr. Manager, Software Engineering that will work and learn among the best, utilizing your experience in distributed technologies and algorithms, great API and systems-design sensibilities, and passion for writing code that performs at an extreme scale. This role will lead Verifications which is one of LinkedIn Trust’s flagship offerings to help surface real members, real companies and real jobs on the LinkedIn platform.

Responsibilities:

•You will manage the performance and career development of a small team of engineers, and own significant parts of LinkedIn products that require design, architecture, and coding.

•You will participate with product and senior management in developing a long-term technology roadmap.

•You will evaluate and prioritize factors to make a weighted decision, arriving at a solution that tackles ambiguity in complex problems and present subjective opinions.

•You will lead cross-functional collaboration to create clarity of business goals and rally focus on members' needs leading to better products

•You will manage vendor relationships by evaluating right partnership and requirements, drive them towards well-reasoned solutions and ensure best practices for smooth integrations.

•You will be a role model and professional coach for engineers and managers with a strong bias for action and focus on craftsmanship, while inspiring the team to develop a solution-oriented mindset.

•You will work with peers across teams to support and leverage a shared technical stack.

•You will manage teams to scale distributed applications, make architectural trade-offs applying synchronous and asynchronous design patterns, review code, and deliver with speediness and quality.

•You will develop multi-tier scalable, high-volume performing, and reliable user-centric applications that operate 24x7.

•You will produce high-quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed and checked in regularly for continuous integration.

Basic Qualifications:

•BS/BA in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent technical experience

•5+ years of hands-on technical management experience

•7+ years industry experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions.

•5+ years experience in large-scale system design and software development

•Experience programming in object-oriented and/or functional programming languages (like Java/Python/C/C++/Scala/etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

•MS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline

•Professional experience working in a Trust Engineering organization.

•5+ years of hands-on software engineering/technical management and people management experience

•8+ years industry experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions.

•7+ years programming experience in languages such as Java, C/C++, C#, Python, Go, etc.

•Hands-on experience leading 30+ member teams in a product development organization, including managers.

•Strong experience influencing and delivering results in a matrix environment

•Experience in leading teams that build consumer facing user-friendly products using various front-end technologies.

•Experience in the design and development of performant, highly available, scalable web applications

•Understanding of common performance patterns and anti-patterns in distributed systems

•Successful track record of managing small teams of engineers to deliver multiple projects on time and with quality

•Active involvement in the creation and execution of technical strategies and roadmaps

•Hire and retain world-class engineers by providing career growth, mentoring, and high impact projects, while taking intelligent risks to improve the way work is done

LinkedIn is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.

The pay range for this role is $171,000 - $280,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
