Strategic Engagement Specialist, Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET) - Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS) - Georgetown University

The Center for Security and Emerging Technology at Georgetown University (http://cset.georgetown.edu) (CSET) is seeking applications for a Strategic Engagement Specialist to advance CSET’s development goals through cultivating relationships with strategic stakeholders, preparing funding requests, and providing critical administrative support.

CSET (http://cset.georgetown.edu/) is a 100% grant and gift funded research organization at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. We focus on studying the security impacts of emerging technologies, supporting academic work in security and technology studies, and delivering nonpartisan analysis to technologists and policymakers. CSET currently focuses on artificial intelligence, advanced computing and biotechnology.

Responsibilities/Work Interactions

The Strategic Engagement Specialist reports to the Director of Communications and Strategic Engagement and is responsible for:

  • Serving as a thought partner to the Director of Communications and Strategic Engagement and strategic engagement team in creating and implementing CSET’s development strategy

  • Managing CSET’s target audience database and interactions, which includes overseeing the implementation of a new CRM system and maintaining accurate, up-to-date data entries

  • Cultivating relationships with current and new strategic stakeholders to maximize financial support and long-term engagement

  • Overseeing the development and execution of funding proposals, applications, and agreements

  • Helping create and manage fundraising collateral

  • Supporting a range of communication efforts, including social media, to maximize financial support and long-term engagement

  • Assisting in planning and executing events to support CSET development goals

  • Assisting Director of Communications and Strategic Engagement with other administrative processes that support development aims

  • Monitoring trends and developments in AI, ML, biotechnology, and national security policy

  • Contributing to CSET’s organizational development, including internal working groups, seminars, and discussions; and supporting and mentoring colleagues; and

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • At least 3 years of experience in a development role

  • Experience with donor management and relationship-building software tools

  • Exceptional organizational skills; and ability to efficiently manage tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and consistently meet deadlines

  • Proven track record of optimizing resources and enhancing workflow efficiency

  • Proficiency with office productivity tools such as Google Suite or Microsoft Office Suite

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work successfully in a collaborative matrixed/multi-disciplinary environment

  • Motivated, enthusiastic, intellectually curious and self-driven

  • Ability to work in the United States without employer sponsorship

This position is based in the United States and offers no relocation assistance.
