Amazon Account Manager, Public Sector in Wellington, New Zealand

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.

The Account Manager for New Zealand Public Sector is responsible for developing and growing strategic relationships with government agencies and departments. This includes understanding their unique technology needs, proposing AWS cloud solutions, and driving successful adoption and implementation. In this role you would act as a trusted advisor, helping public sector organizations leverage the full breadth of AWS services to modernize infrastructure, enhance citizen services, and achieve their mission-critical objectives.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of the technology landscape, priorities, and challenges faced by New Zealand Public Sector organizations

  • Engage with senior IT and business stakeholders to uncover their strategic goals and identify opportunities to leverage AWS cloud services

  • Architect and propose customized AWS solutions that address the unique requirements of government agencies

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the broader AWS sales, solution architecture, and professional services teams to deliver end-to-end support

  • Drive the sales process from initial discovery through proof of concept, procurement, and implementation

  • Maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities and consistently meet or exceed sales targets

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and advocate for public sector customers, ensuring a world-class experience

  • Keep up-to-date with the latest AWS product releases, pricing models, and go-to-market strategies

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of sales experience, preferably in the technology or cloud computing industry

  • Proven track record of success in selling complex, enterprise-level solutions to government customers

  • Technical aptitude and ability to articulate the value of cloud computing to non-technical stakeholders

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-depth understanding of the New Zealand public sector landscape, including key agencies, policies, and procurement processes

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
