Job Title: Data Governance Business Analyst

Location(s): Westminster, CO

Status: Full-Time

FLSA: Exempt

Hiring Range: $80,000 - $105,000/yr. (The anticipated starting salary is based on the posted minimum requirements for this position. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)

RSI EnTech, LLC is recruiting for a Data Governance Business Analyst who will be responsible for advising the Data with stakeholder, legal, and regulatory requirements. This is a new position intended to aid in the establishment of a data-driven culture. The position will focus on establishing an enterprise data governance program consisting of data policies, standards, and practices to achieve the required level of consistency, quality, and protection of data. The Data Governance Business Analyst will gather requirements from program teams and use them to create proposed data standards, procedures, metrics, and policies. This individual will support the oversight of the data governance program and work with program teams to improve the quality and value of core data assets through planning and execution of data quality improvement projects.

This position is required to travel up to 10% of the time.

Primary responsibilities and essential functions:

  • Support the Data Governance Council in the development and implementation of the data governance program.

  • Assist the Data Governance Council in defining, delivering, and sustaining the activities of the data governance program.

  • Assist in the development of a program-wide data strategy.

  • Foster a data driven culture.

  • Demonstrate leadership to inspire, influence, and empower others to leverage data for decision making and innovation.

  • Advocate for data quality and integrity, promote data literacy and ethics, and facilitate data strategy and collaboration.

  • Understand and assist in defining best practices to ensure data assets are visible, accessible, understandable, linked, trusted, and secure.

  • Reviewing and documenting roles and responsibilities, and communications.

  • Interface with working groups to collaborate, communicate status, activities, successes, proposals, and issues to the Data Governance Council.

  • Communicate with stakeholders by developing, delivering, and presenting educational, awareness, and mentoring materials.

  • Develop metrics to track the progress of the data governance program.

  • Gather requirements from stakeholders and use them to draft data standards, procedures, metrics, and policies.

  • Participate in Quality Assurance assessments to identify compliance or non-compliance with the data governance program.

  • Support the design and curation of data catalogs, data models, data dictionaries, business glossaries and other metadata related to Legacy Management’s data.

  • Establish relationships with data owners and stewards to promote best practices.

  • Work closely with federated teams to support the necessary work needed to meet program requirements.

  • Work with managers to plan project work and deliver appropriate project documentation.

  • Participate in the process of estimating budgets required for data related project work.

  • Work with data custodians and users to define, analyze, test, and document project business requirements for small and medium projects.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Work experience, skills, and capabilities needed :

  • Experience implementing data management practices (e.g., data quality, metadata, and lineage) in either a local area or across an organization.

  • Experience developing and/or implementing policies, standards, and regulatory requirements in either a local area or across an organization.

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience with technical writing and senior level executive communications.

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience supporting IT application delivery and supporting data projects, effectively collaborating with key IT areas, multiple vendors, and business stakeholders.

  • Excellent executive communication and business writing skills, including ability to draft business requirements.

  • Familiarity with the Data Management Association Data Management Body of Knowledge; associated principles and guidelines.

Technical knowledge, certifications/licenses, and software proficiency required:

  • Technical understanding of relational database systems, methods to ensure data assets are visible, accessible, understandable, linked, and secure.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.

  • Valid driver’s license.

Desirable qualifications, experience, or proficiencies of the ideal candidate:

  • Experience maintaining and curating MS SharePoint pages,

  • Certification in data management operations from DAMA international,

  • PMP or other project management certification.

Required Education and Years of Experience:

Bachelor’s Degreein business, IT, STEM, or related field with a minimum 9 years of experience in data management and business analysis activities.
