ITW Engineering Manager in Westminster, Massachusetts

ITW Air Flow Management is a producer of interior automotive components such as Pressure Relief Valves and Air Registers, with approximate revenues of $80M. Air Flow Management delivers differentiated value to the North American Automotive OEM’s addressing industry trends of autonomous driving, display integration, and customized environments. Business units include Westminster, MA and Reynosa, MX as well as a Sales & Engineering office in the Detroit area. The division has approximately 530 employees in North America.

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to guide our expanding team of engineers. This important leadership role focuses on both continuous improvement of our existing product lines as well as driving operational excellence, overseeing a team of multi-disciplined engineers aiding new product launches, continuous improvements activities and reinforcement of the existing products in production. Specific tasks include:

  • Responsible for the standardization of automation design and process improvement for the Westminster facility.

  • Technical knowledge regarding injection molding process, mold design, plastics.

  • Establish and improve the manufacturing efficiency by using sound Model Factory techniques.

  • Back all released products and manage product design changes for the entire product life cycle (from launch through obsolescence).

  • Assign resources to engineering projects and use 80/20 methodology to evaluate the priority of projects.

  • Ensure that new designs meet acceptable Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Testability (DFT), and Assembly (DFA) through close engagement with new product development teams.

  • Motivate and provide strong guidance to the engineering teams

  • Team up with the commercial and engineering teams to develop quotations and manage engineering changes

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience

The successful candidate will have a degree in a technical or scientific discipline, a passion for technology and continuous improvement, combined with engineering leadership. Additional requirements include:

  • Technical Knowledge regarding injection molding process, machining, welding.

  • Material science Knowledge in plastics and ploymers.

  • Strong Model Factory, Automation and Total Productive Maintenance experience is strongly desired.

  • Process driven with the ability to create and modify critical business processes to meet the ever-changing business needs.

  • Structured Problem-Solving Expert. (8D, Critical Thinking, 5 Why)

  • Strong coach with the ability to develop and retain a diverse pipeline of great talents
